Simple Wedding Ideas for the Savvy-at-heart

Andrea & Jason’s Breathtaking Black & Red Wedding

A chic and contemporary wedding that cost less than $5k! But looked about a billion.

Andrea and Jason got the dramatic Hollywood effect for less. Brides on a budget listen up! This clever couple made their dollars work hard on all fronts. Red roses and romance set the tone. The results were sheer old school, movie star glamour.

The story behind this wedding is straight out of the movies! Independent film actor met exec assistant. Pulses raced, passions ran high. They didn’t let a small budget stop them from getting hitched in style! Dontcha just love a happy ending?

Baby got back! Check that wow factor wedding dress. The backless trend rules. She looks like a Grecian goddess floating up the aisle in that gown. You don’t need frills and flounces to make a massive impression. Loving that fab fascinator. Gave her hair the finishing touch - without distracting from the drama of the dress.

See the way they’ve worked white into the mix? Breaks the rich red and inky black up brilliantly. It’s all about the secondary shades. They play a vital supporting role – just like in the movies.

Bridal bouquets needn’t wipe out your budget. Take a leaf out of Andrea’s book and pick bold blooms. But keep arrangements simple.

Speaking of supporting roles, the bridesmaid’s dresses and bouquets were spot on. Long, elegant and hot rockin’ red. Flattering but not scene stealers.

Also love these tattoos for the ladies! Cool and unusual. One of the things I love most about this contemporary wedding was the very personal, unifying touches.

There was a smart and sophisticated Spanish feel to this wedding. It was thanks in part to the style and tone of the reception venue. The Ceviche Tapas Bar & Restaurant is a cocktail of the chic, creative and rustic.

Low, lantern-style lighting created an intimate atmosphere. It worked beautifully for the small but perfectly formed wedding party.

You’d have to go a long way to top a red and black colour scheme for drama.

The rich, bold shades said it all. Andre and Jason didn’t need to splash out on expensive decor and table trimmings. Their stylish table decor looked sensational. Brightly coloured napkins, rose petals and personal pics set the tone. Those ruby red glass candle holders worked like a charm.

That monochrome marabou trim added a theatrical feel. Perfectly fitting for this creative couple.

Just because you’re on a budget doesn’t mean you can’t have a bit of bling! Just keep it simple and classy. Think Grace Kelly, not R Kelly!

Andrea’s bridal heels have just the right amount of sparkle. The ring is a real stunner. I’m thinking Art Deco glam. All the details complemented each other to a tee.

A word about monochrome. It works. Especially if you’re a budget bride. Look at that awesome black and white wedding photo of Andrea in makeup. Timeless beauty. It’s convinced me to ask our wedding photographer for some b+w action!

If there were Oscars for weddings, Andrea and Jason would win hands-down. This couple cracked it on all fronts. A true, modern classic!

Love This Look? Here Are Some Fabulous Supplies That Capture The Look Of It Perfectly

You could go for a plain black, red or even white invitation design but I’m totally loving the damask motif with red and black. I totally think it captures the feeling of this wedding – rich and sexy without being overly heavy.
