It’s glorious here in Canada – if you can, it’s really worth it to experience a winter up here or the Northern States and then the transformation to spring. You just can’t imagine how exciting it is for us to see the first colorful flowers of the season peak through the ground after months of grey, white, brown, and slivers of ever green. It’s almost as exciting as, say… a wedding
Aside from things like flowers and the excitement of the season, its symbolic relationship with hop and new beginnings – both perfect for a marriage celebration. Check out some of my favorite KISS-friendly ideas below.
Cherry Blossom for Everything!
Cherry Blossoms are SO popular right now! On the plus side, they’re gorgeous. On the down side, they’re a little pricey.
No problemo – here are some ideas to help you KISS.
If you REALLY want to use the cherry blossom for your wedding but can’t afford them use them as part of other flower groups in your bouquets and centerpieces. You can even scatter a few of them on your cake(s).
Potted Herbs for Favors or Decor
There’s something about seeing last seasons hardier herbs start to grow that always marks the beginning of spring for me.
Right around Mother’s Day, when I get plant my new herbs for the season it feels almost magical. I’m not alone in this either. It’s one of the big traditions all around the world.
That’s why herbs as favors is such a great idea. They’re also a really awesome addition to bouquets, centerpieces, and other decor.
If you like this idea, consider using herbs like Thyme, lavender, or Sage. They start growing earliest in the season and have a FABULOUS scent!
Plantable seed for a Unique Hangtag
I love the idea of using these as hang tags on favor bags or boxes. It’s a great way to be unique without getting overly finicky or spending stupid amounts of money!
I also think that they’re an awesome way to tell your guests that your favor is a donation to a special charity.
Spring Tulips for Bouquets, Centerpieces, and Bouquets
Can you think of a flower that says spring any more than a tulip?
We all love, them but here’s a tip:
If you’re going to use them, mix them with other blooms in spring colors for two reasons.
- First, they’re small. This makes it really expensive to make large bouquets, centerpieces or other decor out them.
- Second, they’re also pretty finicky and tend to droop and wilt rather quickly. If you have just a few as part of your decor or bouquet you won’t have to worry as much about this happening.
Go For a Bright, Cheery Color Theme
Trying to decide on your colors for spring? Sick of the soft pinks, blues and purples? If so, here’s a lively color scheme bursting with energy and exciting.
Playful, Pretty and Romantic in Spring
This is one of those super pretty invitations that screams spring! One of the things I love about this invite is that it comes in three price-points, depending on the type of paper you get. The cheapest version is about $95 for 50 invitations.
I also LOVE the additional views (the front of this card is stunning) and the response cards are super cute too!
A Spring Flower Bouquet
If you’re getting married in the spring, you just have to use spring flowers for your bouquet.
I know I promised that I’d never tell you that you “have to” do anything… but c’mon… Spring has some of the most recognizable and fragrant flowers of all the season. You just MUST use at least some of the flowers in your bouquet.
here’s a list of some of the most stunning flowers for a spring bouquet:
- Cherry Blossom
I think these are some of the prettiest for bouquets. If you’d like to see a more comprehensive list of spring flower, check out this site.
A Simple Spring Cake
I love this cake for a spring wedding.
There are two things a cake decorator charges a lot of money for – intricate icing design and elaborate floral toppers.
This cake is clever in that it’s only chosen one of these costly elements (the icing design) which they have in moderation.
It’s just a lovely, simple cake for spring!
